This follows the keel-laying ceremony of the first vessel early in the month, which means that the company has started the construction under a significant contract to supply 11 NGOPVs. The multi-role NGOPVs would be deployed for anti-piracy, coastal defense, surveillance, search and rescue, and protection of offshore facilities. The contract falls under the “Aatmanirbhar Bharat” and “Make in India” initiatives and is critical to building the coast guard inventory and enhancing India’s maritime engagement in the Indian Ocean Region.
